blogging.

i was just watching this show and it talked about blogging quite a bit. interesting. it talked about how one person has the power to change lives and affect people, just by making their voice heard on the blog. you no longer need a tv show or magazine article to have an impact on people.

also, was discussing genesis in Bible study today. (totally changing subjects here) as previously mentioned, i have been reading through genesis several times this year, so it's really hitting home. but, abraham went into a new land and told the king that sarah was his sister (she was his half sister, in truth), so he didn't get killed. he did that twice. then, isaac does the same thing with his wife (not his half sister this time). then, jacob, isaac's son, deceives his dad, with the help of his mom (isaac's wife). and jacob's sons deceive him about the whereabouts of their brother (joshua). see a pattern here? so, we talked a bit today about the effects of our sins on our children. they watch EVERYTHING i do. nora parrots a lot of it. it was a huge challenge to me to be doing things the right way. we see WAY too many double standards around us. i don't want to be a part of that for my kids...

i picked nora up from her class and asked what she learned. she told me "they went fishing and didn't get fish. so Jesus told them "try again, try again", and they caught fish!" it was so cute to hear her reiterate what she learned!

we took the "lock" off her door on friday night. she's done pretty well staying in her room. i just was having a hard time with it, and am SICK of going through sometimes up to 5 pull-ups a naptime, because she goes and then hates being in it. so, i figured if she had the freedom to come out and go, that might help. she does AWESOME at night. stays in bed. naptime is a little more dicey. more because i think she could give up her nap, so she figures if she's not sleeping why stay in there? i tell her it's "quiet time" and she can play or read. maybe once or twice a week she takes a nap. that's fine with me. i just want her quiet time!

well, on tuesday nights, we go to Bible study at a friend's house. it would be REALLY expensive to get a babysitter, so they have offered to let us put our kids down there. one friend even gave us a second pack-n-play now that james needs it. so, every week, we load up our stuff and our kids. they go to bed, and then we bring them home. they do really well... EXCEPT this week! james went down first, in the bathroom (where nora usually sleeps). then, nora went down. unfortunately, that was her one day this week to nap. so, she wasn't tired, routine was off and she can climb in and out of a pnp like nobody's business! she was in and out of the room.

eventually, we heard jamey crying. i let him cry, figuring nora's noise woke him up. finally, i went in to get him and found nora in bed with him, along with our friend's electric toothbrush AND all four heads! (and nora knows, we don't play with other people's toothbrushes because of germs...) got james up, figuring he could rock with me and go back to sleep (he didn't), and put nora back. we disciplined, bargained and rearranged. NOTHING worked. at one point, she had on several of my friend's shirts. and her jammies were in the dresser drawer. then, his t-shirts and lotion everywhere! fun times. so, we may be rethinking that babysitter thing...

but, i also want her to learn to stay in her room at other houses. (and i have a lock on the outside of jamey's door, for that reason... so she can't walk in and wake him up at will!!) we'll see.. the battle ensues. all this to say that except for a little fight at the beginning, she has stayed in her room (and i think the fight happened because she wanted sadie in her room with her). i can hear her playing, and i am so proud!!

well, the boy is also awake now, so off to do something fun!
