i've posted from this beach before... but i love it! there are cottages here that i am dying to stay at. the water. the view. the ocean. waikiki in the distance. diamondhead even further. i just love it!
the kids playing at the beach today. so much fun!!
we had a whirlwind day. we started off with a trip to target. to buy two birthday presents. and james SCREAMED for a good 10 minutes (if not more) through target, hitting and flailing in the cart as i finished my trip, because i would not ALSO buy him a lego.
i told him no, and once he threw the tantrum, i MOST CERTAINLY was not going to buy it. at the end, he really also wanted a princess play phone. that was a no for SO MANY reasons!
but, as people stared, and nora turned in to the most gracious shopper and helper ever (does any one else's kids do that... one goes all dr. jekyll, and the other goes all mr. hyde? i mean, one crazy and one the sweetest, most polite child you almost don't recognize him/her? like they are trying to balance out your crazy???). anyway, i check out. the sweet cashier offered him a sticker. nora sweetly looked up and said, "please may i have one?". (bless that girl!!!)
we get to the car, and he and i have it out. and he's not any happier. and then, we hold hands while i drive. (unsafe, yes. but holding my two kids hands... cause all three of us have to hold hands. nora even asked today, "can i get in on the hand?") for just a minute. and i tried to do something a minute later and i look in my rearview and realize that nora is comforting him and just sweetly holding his hand. and does so for the next 10 minutes. just holds his hand. and loves on him. bless her heart!!!
THEN, it's only 9:30 am! and we are off to a playdate. and he is a different child than the one i had in target! we have a fun play date. and pack up and eat lunch in the car while we go to the beach. to meet our friends.
we spend a WONDERFUL afternoon just laying at the beach. and playing. and nora just lets herself get tossed around by the waves. and then we pack up. and head back to the house. for a quick skype date with grammie and grandpa. and 20 minutes after arriving at the house, we load BACK up and head off to our first gymnastics class.
the kids had a BLAST! james got to do the bars and some tumbling. and the trampoline. that was his favorite! all day, he told me he wanted to do karate. i asked him to try one class (i am cheating, cause both kids can do two different classes. AT. THE. SAME. TIME....). he agreed, and loved it. after, i asked if he wanted to try karate, and he said he just wanted to come back here!
and nora got to do the bars. and the balance beam. and some tumbling. and she loved it. when we signed up, she got a "free" leotard. and she picked a super sparkly one. cause that's what the olympic gymnasts wore!
then, i threw dinner at them and threw them in bed. fun day!!! but they are TIRED!!!
