good friends and the best running partners EVER!
much better today. i was so tired yesterday, and didn't remember to blog until late and didn't want to upload pictures. let me start with saturday night. my mom and david both offered to get up with james in the middle of the night. he's SUCH good baby, and will eat and go right back to bed, that i said i would do it. plus, i didn't want to worry about pumping. so, i got into bed at 9:30, and 15 minutes later james woke up to eat. i put him back to bed and got back into bed. i guess he kept crying, because two hours later, david suggested maybe i feed him again (he had been crying the whole two hours!). so, this was midnight-ish. we get him fed and calmed down, only to have nora wake up. then, she wakes james up. i do what i can for both and go back to bed.
james woke up just before i did, but i didn't hear him. at 5:15, i got up to feed him. he did go right back to bed after that. at some point, the power had gone out in half our house. we had two lights and one plug that worked. also, we didn't know where our fuse box was. david finally found it thirty minutes later. he couldn't get it fixed, so i was in the bathroom trying to blend my protein smoothie.
meanwhile, after locating the fuse box, david goes outside to start the car. which is covered in a sheet of ice. so, he got that all cleaned off. we got stef picked up and headed up there. we got up there around 6:45. the race started and ended at a mall. we went inside to go to the bathroom and the line was SO LONG. we waited, and made it to the start line at 7:33. (the race started at 7:30) luckily, we were in the last start wave, so it was still 20 minutes before we crossed the start line.
we saw david around mile one, then again around mile 5. somewhere in mile 4, stef's hubby called and then i called my mom to say it was going well!! we were making GREAT time! we went down and turned around (the race was essentially a big there and back). we saw david and stef's fam at mile 7. that was when the race started getting tough. at mile 10, we were tired. we saw david again at mile 11. he was SUCH an encouragement the WHOLE way!! stef's parents and family were on the last few tenths of the race, cheering and encouraging. then, we saw david JUST before we crossed the finish line. he walked around the chute with us and met us as soon as we got out.
what a day. our goal was 3 hours or less.... so 2:44 isn't bad at all! and, we had been walking some in our longer runs. but, we RAN the entire thing! what a day... what a race!! thanks for all the prayers, emails, texts and encouragement!!!
