my grown up third grader...

i want to post more than once a month.  i really do!  and some days (most days) i feel like i am just barely keeping us all alive.  and keeping my sanity.  (although, that's probably debatable!)  it's been a beautiful 18 months of david cooking dinner most nights.  because he likes to.  and it's easy.  and so i let him!

but tonight... i organized a new chore chart.  i had the children DO their chores.  i made dinner.  and it wasn't just mac and franks!  or ordering pizza!  it was a healthy and yummy dinner that everyone ate!

instead of blowing my lid when temper tantrums broke out, i handled it like a mature adult and put the kid in time out.  when he came out, he was a dream!  all smiles and hugging me!

i was telling david all this, and he said we should try to do this more than one night in a row!  i am all for that!!!  it was such a nice night!!!  home work is done.  i am being serenaded by a recorder practice.  life is good today.

i am so thankful for today, in the midst of so many days where this DOESN'T happen.  we maybe remember to have veggies while screaming over the loudest tantrum thrower and mommy is rocking in a corner.  i mean, it's just the truth!

it's so fun to see the kids at these ages.  i am really treasuring baby b, because he's it!  we have always planned to have more until him...  so now that he's leaving these stages in his life, i want to remember what it was like!

and the bigs are so much fun!  the stuff they get and can do.  the conversations we have!  it's just so much fun!!!  (and a little scary...  )

here's to blogging more than once a month!  and killing it as a mom more than one day at a time!
