happy 4th! thankful for all who serve to continue to defend our freedom! and thankful to be in hawaii to celebrate!
marine corps and uncle sam!
waving on the marine corps band
more of the band.
vets.... they were so great! (and there were like 10 different groupings...)
hawaiian korean farmers musicians association...
coolest float award in my book!
coolest "car". i think it was an old paddleboat!
coolest dude. he was maybe 4 and OWNED the road and the crowd!
so, had heard amazing things about the kailua parade. and our church's school was marching. we couldn't find them to march with them, so bunkered down and watched. we met some super nice people next to us (even if they were from michigan!), and had a blast. however, didn't realize the parade ran 2-3 hours. we left about 90 minutes in... right after the school went by!
but, this was no joke of a parade. the seattle, washington high school band was there. and a group of harleys. and veterans of all sorts of wars! (ww2/pearl harbor survivors, korean, vietnam, just vfw's) it was so much fun... totally glad we went!
we are off to friends' to enjoy the rest of the 4th... but, came home for some naps!!!
i am thankful that d is with us today, and not celebrating with a steel beach picnic in the middle of the arabian gulf!!!
