making koeksisters. they are the south african version of a doughnut. i think. at least, that's what they tasted like. and who doesn't love some deep-fried goodness? they were for a function for hubby's work. his ship got to bring african food.
the color didn't turn out super well, but i am back to making tomato soup! with herbs from the garden. the 4 year old was BEGGING me to make it all week! next up, growing my own tomatoes!
family "sorry" night. it didn't work out well. the 30 year old in me wanted to get so annoyed that the game was not being played correctly. but we were having so much fun. it was so fun to watch the kids just LAUGH!!!
and i love hearing this boy sing. especially old hymns and camp songs. and sing so loudly! (don't get me wrong... his sis is pretty cute, too!!!)
and to watch this man just laugh. and to love the PRECIOUS. MOMENTS. we were having.
and to watch this little boy collect all the game pieces. cause he can't have just one of something. he has to have EVERY. ONE!

i had a day off today. i went to a spouses' conference on base. it was wonderful. most of the "classes" i took were pretty cool. i'll upload some pics tomorrow. cupcake decoration, chocolate creations, etc! it was a great day. i am so excited for next year already!! it was a glorious day. i ate breakfast before i got there, figuring the "provided" breakfast would be awful. looked way better than what i had! and i wasn't expecting much for lunch. it was AWESOME! a quinoa and chickpea salad, green salad and some steak. good steak. not mass produced steak (there were hundreds of women!).
then there was a keynote speaker. totally expected to be bored. not in the mood. okay, i had tears in my eyes. the speaker was kimberly dozier. she had an incredible story to tell. (not that it takes much to get tears in my eyes. tears during the singing of the national anthem this morning, too!!)
then, i come home. and wives, seriously, a day at home for dad and kids. i expected the worst. again, expectations were FAR exceeded! (nothing against husbands. i know mine has the time of his life with the kids. and they adore it!) my house was spotless, top to bottom. dinner was made. two loads of laundry had been done and folded (and that's where i ALWAYS fail... the folding part!!). i might be going back to work and letting david be the stay-at-home mom from now on! OH.... and dinner was being prepared as my wonderful children played happily around him. (okay, i'll admit, it felt a little stepford. my kids don't play nicely around me while i cook dinner... )
anyway... not really going back to work. just going to step up my game a bit on the home front! and be so thankful for the man i married.
