i used david's phone mostly for our big island trip pictures… cause i forgot my real camera (who DOES that?), and his is newer. so, in downloading those pics, i found a bunch of others!!!
it's valentine's day. i woke up to the sweetest card! (he remembered!) and he and i both had some stuff for the kids. the kids then snuck off to the play room to make a card for me! it was precious!!!
in writing out my card to david (and reflecting on 8 days away with him), i am so blessed… and when we talked to different people on our trip, they were so impressed that we would leave the kids and go away. david is SO great about being intentional about dates with me. he always has been. (now, i am just as intentional, cause it's a night away!!) and we have been fairly intentional about 2 nights away each year. (i made the decision early on that 1 night away just wasn't relaxing enough!!)
but 8 whole days! (more to come on our fantastic big island vacation!) i know a lot of marriage counselors say a week long trip once a year. i think we can totally get on board with that! i don't know why we waited so long… we really haven't done it since having kids… (unless you count our 10 day road trip across country, with my brother and sister, driving 16 hours a day and his car breaking down in the middle of nowhere missouri! i DON'T!)
the kids and i were talking on the way to school today about valentine's day and love. and the greatest love being sacrifice. they immediately saw where i was going and that Jesus is the BEST valentine ever. and i am so thankful for that….
